The Careel 18

The Careel 18 began life as the Duncanson 18 designed and built by John Duncanson out of South Australia. The business merged with Compass Yachts who decided not to persue the trailer yacht market and so sold the moulds to David and Pam Rose. The Roses established the Careel name from Careel Bay where they lived. The Careel 18 Mark 1 was originally built with a half inch plate steel center board but this was later changed to a three quarter inch steel plate.

While most boats built were swing keel, there was also the option of a fixed keel and a number of these were built with very different weight, mast and rigging specifications to their swing keel siblings.
