Sliding hatch kit

Postby Ianfw » Fri Oct 04, 2019 7:16 pm

Is the sliding hatch kit still available anywhere ? Someone got one they never used ? I have an idea how to do it myself but maybe the kit would be better.

Did you have any success in your quest to acquire a sliding hatch kit? I am about to choose between 2 boats and would prefer the boat that needs a hatch conversion so would be grateful for any advice you could pass on.

No luck I am afraid. I am planning to do mine myself. Been looking at other boats to get some ideas. Trickiest bit is the from curved edge of the opening and hatch

Yes, I can’t raise Seaton either. He may have retired.

I think I can cut it out and do it myself but it’s a big job . I don’t want to cut the cabin top then find I can’t do it ! I have a pretty good idea of how I would do it though

Could also be worth calling Vern. He won't have a kit but he's installed a number of sliding hatches over the years and may have some good advice as to what and what not to do.

I got a call from Seaton yesterday after texting him a couple of times. He is now retired on a farm but will still make a hatch for me for $250. Will take a couple of weeks.
