Hi Byrds,

I’ll be bringing up Mango Madness to the Bay2Bay again this year.

This time I’ll have a crew of old friends (Heather and Mic) while my wife, Helen will be the cheer squad!

I’m looking forward to us all joining the Careel team dinner on the Friday night and hopefully a complete race this year.

Cheers,

John

That is great news John we look forward to seeing the Mango again in 2017.

I am aware of the following boats who are keen to attend:

1. Nellie
2. Mango Madness
3. Honey Ryder
4. Storm
5. Dolphin
6. Skye Mist

I suspect we will also see:

7. Restless with Sebby and crew
8. Cool Change
9. Little Wanderer

We may even get Ivana? Wyuna still appears to be in the wilderness.

The other good friends also look like being in attendance.

C22 Cloud Nine - Don Marshall
Sonata 7 Honky Tonk - The Indefaticable Mr Dwyer
Farrier 25 Different Drum - Craig Knowles

I have booked the berths at the Tin Can Bay Marina, registered my boat for the race and the caravan park at Hervey Bay has also been sorted! Another legendary weekend awaits!

That's fantastic news Brian.

It should be a wonderful trip. Make sure you book a berth at the Tin Can Bay Marina for the Friday night.

Lets all pray for some wind this year!

I bet its wet and it blows like hell!

How much fuel do you take with you?
Keeping in mind that the two races I've been in, we motored the second day due to no breeze.

I will be there again on Dolphin.
Let's hope we get a good breeze this year!
We are about due for a windy bay to bay!

Agreed Knuckles!

Brian, I take a full 25 litre tank and a spare 10 litre. If I recall I used almost all the first 25 litre tank as we motored almost all of Day 2.

I'm using a 6hp 2 Stroke Yamaha with a high thrust prop.

Its embarrasing and possibly dangerous to run out of juice!

Okay we have a bumper fleet already registered for the B2B this year with SEVEN Careel 18s registered! And that doesn't include 'Storm'!

If we can get the following boats registered we will have the biggest class by far ahead of the RL24s

We need.....

Storm
Little Wanderer
Restless
Ivana
Wyuna
Belise

Mango Madness is coming up all the way from NSW so he needs company!

How about the NSW organise an Armada to make it the largest Careel 18 fleet in living memory....

Its held over the May Day weekend and is more of a cruise than a race! Much less taxing than the MPONR with two days of glorious sailing with a fleet of colourful sails. The best way to see it! The raft up at Garry's Anchorage is so much fun!

We already have seven boats but let's make it at least a dozen!

Hi Bay2Bayers! Had a wonderful Easter weekend sailing on Lake Macquarie with a new crew in preparation for the Bay2Bay.

We're driving up from Sydney leaving on ANZAC Day after the dawn service and will check out the seaside towns (and seafood!) on the way up to Tin Can Bay. Can't wait to enjoy this wonderful event again which kicks off with the Friday night gathering near the Tin Can marina.

Cheers,

John

John,

We look forward to seeing you again. We now have NINE yes 9 Careel 18s participating which makes it the largest Careel regatta since the Nats in September 16.

We may even get a few more out of the woodwork. Sebbie rang me today to confirm that he just registered and Alan in Little Wanderer says he is coming. Thats on top of the other 7 that appear on the B2B Facebook site

Nine is great. But how good would it be to have eighteen 18's??!? :D
