Proud new owner of 'The Byrd'

Postby Horatio » Tue Mar 28, 2017 6:32 pm

Hi all,
Mark Nelson here, Horatio was my nickname at primary school. I like it more now...
Anyway, just bought the Byrd, a beautifully restored and maintained early mark 1 Careel 18. Can't wait to get out for a sail, hopefully this weekend. Full credit to her previous owner, Paul, who has put a lot of time, thought and money into her.

I have done plenty of sailing over the years, in boats from 10' to 50' and last owned a Quiksilver 16. Very familiar with Lyttelton, Marlborough sounds and Golden Bay back home in NZ but a novice when it comes to local conditions and best places for gentle sailing and day / overnight cruising. Will be keen to get any local knowledge from other Members around the North Brisbane region as to where is a good place to start.
