Careel 22 Boat Register

Postby maxm » Wed Jun 10, 2015 8:27 pm

What better way to start an introduction than for us to introduce you to your boat? Here is a list of all the known Careel 22s and their names as they were known some years back. Some are the original boat names, some are the last known name. Many have no known name. What name does your boat have now?? Tell us and we'll update the list.

Some FAQ for this list:
  • For the vast majority of boats, this is all the information we have. You may be lucky to find some more information on some boats by searching this site (use the Search box up in the top right of this window or get Google to search this site by adding site:careel.com to your search).
  • If your boat does not have an identification plate in the forward end of the port cockpit locker (most C22s don't) then the number on the sail or painted on the hull is probably the boat's number. Failing that if you are lucky and you can match a name in the list below then that is probably the boat's number. If you have none of the above then unfortunately you're out of luck with identifying the boat.
  • The boat names below are the last KNOWN names. A previous owner may have changed the boat's name without our knowledge.

ALYTH is Hull No 78 and I believe ALYTH is her original name.
She was built for the late Bob Crouch and his wife Shirley of Margate Qld, and they owned it for 19 years.
I am the 4th owner and have had her since 2009.
The spinnaker is a hand-me-down from Mark Sheaves. He kindly gave it to me when he got a new big one ex J24.
She is an interesting boat. Although a Long Cabin she has the shorter mast that was fitted to the Short Cabin variants.
The gooseneck, however, is set much lower on the mast than most 22L's and so I can fit the main off Marks boat comfortably on Alyth.
She also appears to be much lighter built, particularly in the topsides, and floats appreciably higher than Ethel May II.

Cheers
Chris

PS I think Edwin Flynns boat WANTON is No. 122 but that can be checked by having alook over at TSP

Here is a picture from earlier this year, trailer has been fabricated and hull bottom has been painted with new sign writing, same name of course. At the moment the inside is getting a new fit out, will post another photo when this is done

Kind Regards

Ron

G'day All
Well Here we go
Bruce here, And I am the new owner of a C22 Hull number 20
I am in Sandfly south of Hobart in Tasmania

I don't have allot of experience sailing something this size, I use to sail allot many years ago, mainly mirrors and cats but have not done any sailing at all for many years, so this is going to be a big step and learning curve lol

What i can tell you so far is that Hull 20 is now Named "Serenity" and is in the process of a bit of a tidy up and rewire and will be back in the water very soon :)

Cheers
Bruce
