Hi Jared and welcome to the forum. Sorry about the hoops you had to jump through to put up a post but we're getting at least a dozen wannabe spammers a day at the moment.

As for your question... couldn't be 621 because there's no such number. It also can't be 210 because that isn't a fixed keeler according to the list. I'm pretty sure it isn't C18/242 Syntax because she's up on Lake Macquarie. Which leaves C18/62, 87, 96, 98, 123, 159, 217 and 218. If it is an early boat then it may not have had a plate and the number could be written underneath the cockpit floor or inside one of the lockers in the cabin so it's worth checking those spots.

Small peaceof History on C18/71
For a few years she was owned by Michael and Ros. We bought her in Sydney. The last owner thought her name was originally Scarab but was renamed Cara. She was the towed up to Bundaberg Queensland and sold to a gentleman in Bundaberg. If she is still in the area I have not seen her. If any one has more info I would be interested in finding out more.

maxm wrote:What better way to start an introduction than for us to introduce you to your boat? Here is a list of all the known Careel 18s and their names as they were known some years back. Some are the original boat names, some are the last known name. Many have no known name. What name does your boat have now?? Tell us and we'll update the list.

Some FAQ for this list:
  • For the vast majority of boats, this is all the information we have. You may be lucky to find some more information on some boats by searching this site (use the Search box up in the top right of this window or get Google to search this site by adding site:careel.com to your search).
  • If your boat does not have an identification plate in the forward end of the port cockpit locker then the number on the sail or painted on the hull is probably the boat's number. Failing that if you are lucky and you can match a name in the list below then that is probably the boat's number. If you have none of the above then unfortunately you're out of luck with identifying the boat.
  • The boat names below are the last KNOWN names. A previous owner may have changed the boat's name without our knowledge.
