Lake Conjola Easter Cruise + Anzac Day

Postby Pete C » Thu Apr 07, 2011 8:11 pm

As copied from the April Careel News -

LAKE CONJOLA EASTER CRUISE + ANZAC DAY
CRUISE DATES: Thursday 21st – Wednesday 27thApril 2011
HOW TO GET THERE: Lake Conjola is 220 km south of Sydney, off the Princes Highway.
Follow the highway through Nowra, to Wandandian and then Conjola.
The lake turn-off is about 6 km after the Conjola turnoff; from there it is about 5 km to the
turn-off to Killarney Beach – our Cruise HQ (there's a small signpost at the dirt road leading to
the beach).
SITE ACCESS: Killarney Beach is on private property, and offers a launching ramp,
clean sandy beach, toilets, fresh water and lock-up parking.
Enter the private property from the dirt road via the gate on the left hand side, near some
parked trucks.
Please shut the gate when coming or going, to keep the cows from straying.
Unfortunately, camping overnight on the beach or foreshore is prohibited (but staying on your
Careel is OK). A collection of $5 per day will be asked for each boat for the entry and parking fee
& will be presented by our Cruise Captains to the elderly ladies/owners.
The beach to the west of the launch ramp is for Careels, and to the east is for “ski boats” –
which we suspect ‘try’ to wake us early! So when launching, watch out for the rock “trap” in the
centre of the beach and 3 m from the shoreline. Otherwise Lake Conjola offers ideal trailer sailing,
clear water, and access to the ocean beach, good fishing, and brilliant cruising.

CRUISE PLAN:

(0419293717)Stop at a Driver Reviver for coffee/tea, and overnight at Killarney.

Good Friday 22nd:Launch at Killarney Ramp, picnic lunch in the park.
Afternoon sail on the lake, before we can relax and return for Happy Hour with
Easter Egg painting for the Careel Kidz, which will be required for Sunday.
Barbecue Dinner & Campfire.

Rob and I would love to be attending this Lake Conjola Cruise but the B2B and family in the opposite direction are calling us northward. Enjoy !

It seems to be a common theme.
Over the weekend I was having a chat with quite a few people and they all are hanging out for this cruise, me included :D

What a great cruise we had over the Easter/Anzac period.
Even though we had rain, sunshine, washed away access roads and eventually good wind for sailing on the Tuesday there is no reason why you wouldn't own a Careel.
The photo's are now in the Gallery section and they tell the full story..............put the kettle on first, there are a few there :D
