Removing boat from trailer

Postby 121 » Mon Oct 24, 2016 7:01 am

My trailer needs some work, and Ivana (C-18) will have to be off of it for the work to be done.

I was thinking that I would have to launch Ivana and keep her in a marina for a few days, but the manager of the trailer repair establishment has told me that they can take her off (and lift her back on) in their yard for me, using their 'hoist' which I understand to be slings running underneath the boat.

Any opinions on whether this should be an ok method for a Careel 18? Any reasonable likelihood that the hull would crack or break due to (say) insufficient support along the length of the skeg?

Thanks.

Geoffrey.

I think the boat will be fine. That's how they lift out boats at most marinas.

Boat will be fine as long as they use flat fibre slings and spreader bars over the top of the boat as to not put pressure on the sides
