Removing keel from Careel 18

Postby Rocky » Wed Jun 29, 2016 11:51 am

Folks, I'm planning to remove the keel from the yacht. Can someone tell me how much room I need under the yacht to remove the keel?

Rocky, while we're waiting for a reply from someone who has done this, I gather that the easiest way to remove the keel is up through the cabin. Just take the table top off and then loop webbing straps down around the keel. You can run something solid like a pipe through the straps and then two or three or four guys can just lift it out (it's a lump at over 100 kg!)

Hi Rocky, I think you'll find the width of the board is getting close to 630mm. So that distance plus whatever you are going to drop it onto. Eg. Timber cradle on pipes as rollers. Table off measurement will prove size & weight unless you get under to prove.
