CCYA 2013 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Postby sail417 » Sat Mar 02, 2013 7:24 am

CCYA 2013 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Sponsored by: GEMMELL SAILMAKERS.

The CCYA National Championships were held on the 23rd and 24th February 2013 at Point Wolstoncroft, Lake Macquarie NSW.

Adverse weather conditions on the Saturday caused us to postpone the first two races and fortunately there was a complete turn around of the weather on Sunday that allowed us to get in four races to constitute a series..................thus, a result.

Now sit back and flick through a few pic's courtesy of Dirk Visman.

Great photos, amazing to see so much heeling on what looks like a flat calm. Just shows how forgiving these great little boat are.

Great photos Dirk. Was that the the 500mm?

Ian, it was dead flat except at the wing mark because we were only a few hundred metres from the lee shore but obviously it was still pretty blowy out there. We checked the wind speed during race 2 and 3 and found it averaging between 10-15 knots gusting up to near 20 at times.

some may find this interesting;

Image

This a picture of Wyuna and Ivana's tracks for the whole day. At the bottom is the speed profile for Ivana. The big red arrow on the upper picture is where the vertical line is on the lower picture and marks Ivana's top speed for the racing of 12.6 km/hr = 6.8 knts. This was between the wing and bottom mark which on the day was just off close hauled.

This is all done in google earth. Tracks were recorded on the i-phone.
