Thanks, I sort of borrowed the paint scheme from a Macgregor 26

G'day Clint,
That's interesting what you did with the perspex.
What did you seal them with ??
And over that length, were you able to get it to sit flush against the cabin profile ??
That's my next job, to re-sael the windows. I am searching for butyl mastic tape instead of silicon.

The windows are dark perspex with black paint around them to give the illusion that it is one large window. They are held in with small screws and nuts inside the cabin and I sealed them with black Sikaflex around the outer edges. I didn't remove the windows when I did the boat up and I have never seen another Careel up close so I don't know if the windows are usually screwed in the same as mine. If you do use Sikaflex be very careful how you apply it as stains older fibreglass and won't come out. If in doubt use the butyl mastic, it is easier to use and should clean off easily with turps.

At this point we started to talk about installing windows. Those posts have now been moved to the Technical Articles area in the thread "Redoing windows" since I think it'll be a useful resource for anyone wanting to reaseal or install windows.

Hi All,
I am the very happy new owner of Lou Lou. Picked he up from Brisbane last Saturday and bought her back to the Sunshine Coast.
It has taken me months of looking but finally found the right C18. It was great to find some history about her on the forum which helped in my decision to buy. She needs a bit of TLC but I hope to have her back in the water soon.
- all electrics need reconnecting and a new battery
- will need to get the centreboard etc checked out as it has been sitting on the trailer and not used for over 9 months or more
- timber work needs sanding and varnish, also general clean and polish.
- I also need some practice as the last time I sailed a C18 was with my father in the late 70's when I was a young teenager.
( I hit the half century in November)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Simon
