Re: WANTED TO BUY: Careel 18

Thanks Max for the mention & steering Bill towards my/our (don't want to get into trouble off Robyn) C18's. I spoke with him last night & he's looking for something good & decent alright but, something to cruise with only. Yes, I can confirm that we have both Storm Mk3 & Monsoon Mk1 ...

Re: "My Mini Stable of C18 For Sale".

G/day Ian, long time no see yourself or Clayton, trust you blokes & families are all well. Yes, am still proud to say that after I & crew found our feet somewhat regards competing with C18 we knocked off Jimmy Wearing & family crew while he was skippering Katrina. We beat him 2-3 times i...

Re: Regular dropping mast for bridges

Yes, of course that lowering & raising again of the stick can be simply handled utilising a couple of methods which come to mind on a C18 with the boom likely folded up in place &/or attached to mast.

Re: Top End of the Myalls Cruise. 25th - 26th May 19.

Well, you just can't ever really beat the top of The Myalls can you or for that matter the whole of its system !! Surprisingly but, not surprisingly in some regards due to the Easter cruise, it was very quite with not many people or boats about at all apart from a few campers at Narainie & our f...

Re: Rudder question

I should've also said above that the swing rudder/s that I've left on the stern when transporting are not of the plain standard type BBQ plate. ie: they are larger & fold up far better & vertically than the standard thus also making them easier to tie or lash up securely against the stern. C...

Re: Rudder question

I'm definitely agreeing with Luka. Just make sure you have a retaining clip or split ring to stop the rudder from perhaps jumping off the gudgeon/pintle fittings & absolutely leave it on the transom suitably lashed & strapped up which takes only a few moments. I've never had an issue & I...

Re: rudder downhaul C18

Yep,, understood Ken. The jamming can be a real pain & issue especially if you happen to be in the wrong location or position at the time. It's not all bad news though of course if set up & kept adjusted right. My brother who used to own C18 Buhawi before myself made a fairly different style...

Re: rudder downhaul C18

The larger size rope is the idea however, you can & should also tighten up the cheeks to reduce the gap between cheek & blade as much as possible. Some of the larger timber retro fitted swing blades particularly also have a groove in the top of the blade head for the haul rope. A clamp can b...

Re: 51st Marlay point overnight Race

Yep,, that's right the official AS CBH is now .630 with lil chance for it being reviewed & altered back to .590. The Marley operators still utilise the .590 however for your C18 results (plus adjust back some other classes as they disagree), thumbing their noses at AS & a particular official...
