Re: Top End of the Myalls Cruise. 25th - 26th May 19.

Well, you just can't ever really beat the top of The Myalls can you or for that matter the whole of its system !! Surprisingly but, not surprisingly in some regards due to the Easter cruise, it was very quite with not many people or boats about at all apart from a few campers at Narainie & our f...

Re: Rudder question

I should've also said above that the swing rudder/s that I've left on the stern when transporting are not of the plain standard type BBQ plate. ie: they are larger & fold up far better & vertically than the standard thus also making them easier to tie or lash up securely against the stern. C...

Re: Rudder question

I'm definitely agreeing with Luka. Just make sure you have a retaining clip or split ring to stop the rudder from perhaps jumping off the gudgeon/pintle fittings & absolutely leave it on the transom suitably lashed & strapped up which takes only a few moments. I've never had an issue & I...

Re: rudder downhaul C18

Yep,, understood Ken. The jamming can be a real pain & issue especially if you happen to be in the wrong location or position at the time. It's not all bad news though of course if set up & kept adjusted right. My brother who used to own C18 Buhawi before myself made a fairly different style...

Re: rudder downhaul C18

The larger size rope is the idea however, you can & should also tighten up the cheeks to reduce the gap between cheek & blade as much as possible. Some of the larger timber retro fitted swing blades particularly also have a groove in the top of the blade head for the haul rope. A clamp can b...

Re: 51st Marlay point overnight Race

Yep,, that's right the official AS CBH is now .630 with lil chance for it being reviewed & altered back to .590. The Marley operators still utilise the .590 however for your C18 results (plus adjust back some other classes as they disagree), thumbing their noses at AS & a particular official...

Re: C18 Mk 2 For Sale in SA

She is definitely a Mk1. number 154 I think & could (should) easily ask higher $ for it in my opinion.
I contacted the owner a couple of weeks ago & he was to amend the advert both here & elsewhere.

Re: Careel Price Guide

So much these days depends on the overall condition of the hull, how good is the trailer & sails, the mast, rigging & fit out, whats included, etc, etc.

I see you've just purchased mk1 Suitus.

Re: Replacing cable Molco model 102 winch

Well I'd refrain from replacing the cable with wire.
I'd use Dyneema for trailer/boat winch & either Spectra or Dyneema for the keel winch.
Just pull out the old & refit the new using strong hand tension & when you get to use the loading will reel itself up as normal.
