Re: I have recently purchased Careel 18 No 259

Enjoy your purchase !
Am I right in remembering that, that boat used to belong to one of the Carwardine fella's (Jeff a few years back) & has a kite ?
Not many seem to know (I was once informed by life member G Shepard) that the Roses sent a dozen or so C18 to Victoria to complete order/s !

If you call Pam Rose 0299744701 you'll be able to purchase nice new decals. David replenished stocks a year or two before his death.

Re: Jib furler height

That's part of the great design feature that the front bar work allows & something that every C18 owner enjoys especially off & downwind, haha ! Keep the headsail down as low as possible to assist in upwind drive etc. If you were to set it high enough to clear the bar well quite frankly your...

Re: Careel Nationals and 50th Year Celebrations 22/23 Feb

Sounds & looks like there's some decent cruise type activities to differing locations about the lake being organised over the weekend together with a lovely dinner on the Saturday night. People with their boats are invited to arrive at Wangi from the Friday.

Re: "My Mini Stable of C18 For Sale".

Ian, I know your boat as it used to belong to PDwyer & I understand your want & need.
I'll try & find out what's going on with Seaton who built pretty well all the C18's from No 100.
Another huge point to this is that he has all the surviving moulds for 18 & 22.

Re: "My Mini Stable of C18 For Sale".

Sorry Ian I have no spare slide hatch kits available. I’ve installed the kits I had into boats barring one which was supplied as part of a deal for new owner. Scott, yes call me if interested as one boat will be made available after Nationals in late Feb.

Nah Trots, you've not missed great amounts of promotional material &/or advice as far as I'm concerned or aware of either. Look forward to seeing you Qld blokes at Wangi ! Btw, Rob & I will likely give the MPONR a miss this year now & probably sail the B2B before hanging up my Careel rac...

Re: Jib winches

Yes Pat, they are early C18 bakerlyte (spelling ?) type winches. If you want some later day Barlows in stainless for eg give me Don 0402 223133 a call as have a few in good condition sets. I use a different system on my own C18s & so have removed them when upgrading.
