Re: Bay to Bay 5-6th May 2018

Hi Paul, Mango Madness is registered with the same crew as last year.

As winners of the Healthy Queensland Sunny Attitude Award last year we're looking forward to actually doing well in sailing!

Cheers,

John

Re: 50th MPONR

Hi Paul, there's currently 51 yachts registered fro Div A with a little less than 2 weeks to go, last time I did the Marlay in 2016 there were only 31 entrants in Div A on race night.

Mango Madness came 7th on handicap. Got a new mainsail this time around so hoping we'll do ok!

Re: Sydney Harbour Races info/crew

Hi Jared, I have a Careel 18 Mark 1 swing keel and race it in the Marley, Bay2Bay races and the Careel nationals. With regard to Sydney harbour I sail on a Clansman 32 with the Royal Australian Navy Sailing Association (RANSA). This is a fantastic, friendly club located at the old navy base at Rushc...

High & Dry at Burrill Lake

Hi Careelers, Just finished the annual family holiday at Ulladulla on the NSW South coast (3 hours South of Sydney). I always put my mark 1 Careel Mango Madness on beautiful Burrill lake which is a great place to sail, fish and generally enjoy being on the water. Although normally not tidal, this ye...

Re: Happy 2018!

Hi Trotts,

Mango Madness is having a holiday on beautiful Burrill Lake just South of Ulladulla. This is a lovely deep lake with easy access and a safe anchorage.

Next big event will be the Marley which is shaping up to be a huge occasion celebrating 50 years!

Re: C18 Lines and sliding hatches

Hi Don, having raced my Mark 1 "Mango Madness" in the Nationals and Bay2Bay I'm very keen to implement the improvements you suggest. I can see it would make a world of difference when pointing against the wind. I don't have the tools or expertise to do the sliding hatch and CAR tracks myse...

Beware of Puffer Fish!

Hi Careelers, yesterday I was on my mate Dave's boat at Rushcutters Bay and while pulling up the mooring line pricked my hand on the spine of a small puffer fish that hand been minding his business nibbling on the rope. Well pain shot up my arm with a continuous ache to the extent that Dave had to d...

Re: NHTYA 3HR & 6HR Race

Thanks to Kim and Norm for their patience on Saturday waiting for Mango Madness to finish the NHTYA 3 hour race. We made it a 4 hour race by sailing a long, long way to round the wrong mark (first time racing on this course). It was a great day with every wind strength and multiple directions keepin...

Re: Careel 18 new owners with lots of questions

Hi Susanna, Congrats on your Mark1, I've had mine for 30 years and still love her. Over the last 3 years I've refurbished the hull, cockpit, floor and keel of my boat. I'm lucky to have a mate Dave who's an expert on coatings and he's done most of the work. You can see what we did on You Tube under ...
