Re: C18 Trailer tilt release / engage

Hi Byrds,

Sounds like you've got it under control but for what it's worth, my trailer is exactly the same as Ed's and like him I've never secured it. I *do* have a bungee cord that I attach to the handle to hold it in the unlocked position when launching but that's it.

Re: Questions prior to buying a Careel 18 mk 2

Hi Andy and Jude and welcome to the site. Here's my two bob's worth of answers to your questions: Swing Keel - this one has not had the pin replaced. Is it hard to get at? Is it something to remove and check out? I've never replaced one so am not really qualified but it sounds like getting the pin o...

C18 for sale in Bardon, QLD

There's not much info available on this one. It's on Gumtree for $7,000 and only one photo. If anyone goes out to look at it and can provide more info, please do.

Re: New to careels

Hi Ken and welcome! Don't throw that rudder away, there's probably people on this site who'd be interested in buying it. The old BBQ plates aren't pretty but they are bomb proof. And yes, later boats had an anchor well.

Hi Nick, welcome and congratulations on your new baby! And you're right about the bilge being dry. If you find it's wet, you've probably got a problem.

Re: solar charge controller

Hang on... what am I missing here? Jeremy has a 60W panel so I make that about 3A from the panel. Surely a 10A controller would be plenty? Jaycar list several of those. I like this one - https://www.jaycar.com.au/12-24v-10a-dual-battery-pwm-solar-charge-controller-with-led-indicator/p/MP3760 - mainl...

Re: solar charge controller

Hi Jeremy, I've got some generic solar battery controller which has zero info on it other than maybe a LED light to say it's doing something. It does work but not very user friendly. In circuit I've also got a Watt Master monitor. I haven't been able to find that unit exactly online anywhere any mor...

Re: Trailer advice and mast advice

Mal, the wheels need to hold the weight of the boat as it's bouncing along the road. So if you get the ones rated at about 200 kg times 6 wheels, they'll support about 1200 kg which is probably enough. The rear pair take a lot of load when the boat is loading onto the trailer though so I reckon more...

Re: Where do drafts go?

If you look up in the top right corner of the window is your account name (Ray) and a little down arrow next to it. Click on that. Click on User Control Panel. You'll get the User Control Panel which has a number of tabs in it. The Overview tab should be selected but if not, click on that tab. Down ...

Re: Trailer advice and mast advice

Hi Mal, If you're replacing the trailer rollers then you'll do much better to use foam filled wheels so you never have to worry about pumping them up. Have a look at this mob http://www.richmondau.com/product-category/wheels-rollers/puncture-proof-wheels/ and this mob https://www.fallshaw.com.au Bot...

Currently listed at $14,950 at Paynesville in Victoria this is a long cabin version of the C22. Looks like a nice timber finish in the cabin too!
