Re: High & Dry at Burrill Lake

If you try to push her directly forward or aft (depending which way you're pointing) then the skeg digs in and makes the job hard. There's an easier way if you've got about 4 or 5 helpers (or preferably more) as taught to me by Max Saxburg: Put a couple of people at the bow - say starboard side, clo...

Re: For sale Careel 18 Mlll moored in Sydney

Whereabouts in Sydney? Do you have a price in mind? What gear does she come with (aside from the mooring)? Do you know the hull number?

Re: C22 Genoa and Main Sail

The Etchells headsail should fit. Commodore Kim crews on Etchells and has sourced the headsails for various people. I don't know about the mainsail but it'd be worth giving it a go.

Hi watto, welcome to the site and congratulations on your new baby!

Don't worry about the ramp. We've all been there and I can tell you, it WILL get much quicker and easier. And yes, you never get to the end of the to do list.

Hi Steven, If you're a CCYA member then all that info is in the latest club newsletter sent out just in this last week or so. There would have been an email from the editor. If you're not a member then there's an application form downloadable here http://www.careel.com/docs/CCYAapplication.pdf The f...

Re: New and novice Careel 22ers needing help

Hi Abeltje and welcome! What number is your C22? If you've got the mast up then I guess you've deciphered the standing rigging and it's only the running rigging (halyards, etc) that you need to sort out. Is that right? The running rigging usually isn't too complicated - jib sheets go through fairlea...

Re: Which Careel should I buy?

I've never had less than 8 hp on the 22 but on our previous C18 we did have a 6 hp 4-stroke and it was a great little motor which easily pushed the boat along at hull speed. But I don't remember going through any really bad weather with that one so that's probably not much help. I envy you. The D'En...

Re: spotted on gumtree .. is it a careel 18

Yeah, I got an email notification about that one earlier today and had a quick look. It seemed odd. Looking at it again now, I'd say no, it's not a C18. There doesn't seem to be any sheet winches or they're not in the right position. The keel raising mechanism looks weird. The foresail in the photo ...

Re: Which Careel should I buy?

On the other hand, you do have a lot of incredibly good waterways in Tassie that would be great to spend time on. The Derwent River, Freycinet, lots of river and estuary systems, not to mention your inland lakes and waterways. These would be well suited to either of these boats but if you're going t...
